The UK's legacy customs system, Customs Handling of Import & Export Freight (CHIEF), is being replaced by Customs Declaration Service (CDS). CDS will handle all imports and exports arriving/departing the UK by land, air, or sea.

At Grange Shipping, we have been training staff on the HMRC ‘Trader Dress Rehearsal’ system for the past couple of months, so we are ready for the changeover. CDS is very different to CHIEF and requires engagement by Importers and Customers.
We will gradually move our importers across to CDS starting in July, depending on the suitability of the traffic (not all traffic is suitable for CDS even at this stage), and we will contact importers/customers individually as we progress and learn more.
